DIY Toilet Bowl Bombs

Last Update: September 27, 2022

Believe it or not, it’s easy to get your bathroom sparkling clean with non-toxic ingredients that won’t break the bank. So say goodbye to toxic chemicals and hello to a refreshing citrusy toilet bowl cleaner from the new book Clean Mama’s Guide to a Healthy Home by Becky Rapinchuk. You’ll love how easy it is to use—just let the bomb sizzle, scrub, then flush!

DIY Toilet Bowl Bombs

What you need

2 cups Thrive Market Baking Soda
⅓ cup citric acid
2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide
15 drops Thrive Market Organic Lemon Essential Oil
5 drops Thrive Market Organic Peppermint Essential Oil

Instructions

In a glass bowl, stir to combine the baking soda and citric acid. Slowly add the hydrogen peroxide—fizzing is normal—until the mixture forms a thick, almost crumbly paste. Add the essential oils until well-combined.

Push the mixture into ice cube trays and allow to dry thoroughly for at least 24 hours—outside in the sun works best. When the cubes, or bombs, are thoroughly dry (they should be very hard), remove them from the tray and store them in a glass jar with a secure lid.

Use one cube per toilet for a quick clean or a refresh between full cleanings.
